ARA Promoting Green Auto Parts

The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) announces the launch of the Green Recycled Parts website at http://www.greenrecycledparts.com to promote the positive economic and environmental impact of recycled automotive parts.

“On an annual basis recycling automobiles in the U.S. provides enough steel to produce almost 13 million new vehicles, saves an estimated 85 million barrels of oil and reduces greenhouse gases associated with the manufacturing of new or replacement automobile parts”, says Michael E. Wilson CEO of the ARA . Recycled automotive parts are also 20 to 80 percent less expensive than comparable new parts. “However, far too often, consumers are not aware of the options available to them when it comes to vehicle repair, most notably the economic and environmental benefits of recycled automotive parts”, said Wilson.

“The new Green Recycled Parts™ website educates consumers about the benefits of recycled parts and links consumers, repair facilities and insurance companies with a network of automobile recyclers across the country. “For the first time, this website also provides consumers with a specific place to go to learn about cost effective, environmentally friendly part options before they decide on a repair”, said Wilson.

Auto recycling is a big part of a greener earth in the future, we salute all that support it!

Finding Used Auto Parts Online

I am always on the hunt for good deals on used auto parts because I love fixing cars and end up doing it for friends and family all the time.  I have found some good web directories that list quality sites for buying used car parts.  Here are a few of them:

Auto Recycling is Important – Toronto and New York

eco-friendly handsI was browsing the web and stumbled onto a nice little thread about auto recycling in Toronto and New York – I have actually been to that salvage yard, Standard Auto Wreckers and had a whale of a time.  I went on one of their Free Parts days where you pay a flat fee and can take as many parts as you can carry from their U Pull It area.

I recommend auto recycling to anyone thinking of getting rid of an old car and I hear you can even donate your old junk car to charity and get a tax receipt.  Now that is a win-win situation if I have ever heard of one!

Learn to Recycle by Playing the DumpTown Game

If you are like me and have young kids at home and would like to get them started on thinking green then you definately need to check-out this cool, educational recycling game.

It is actually a lot of fun and I have whittled aways many an hour on it.  Here is the low-down,  you are Dumptown’s new City Manager! When you start to play, you’ll see Dumptown at its worst — it’s littered, polluted, and nothing is being recycled or reused. There are many trash cans and dumpsters, but no recycling bins. That means all of the trash is going right into the landfill just outside town, where it isn’t doing anyone any good.

In your new position, you can start programs that encourage Dumptown’s citizens and businesses to recycle and reduce waste.

You have 10 programs to work with. Each time you try out a new one, you can see immediately how the Dumptown landscape changes. You also see how much waste you are saving from going into the landfill.  Be smart and learn to go green at a young age.
